Directive VDI 2700, issued by the VDI organization, defines the requirements for securing vehicles during road transport and forms the basis for correct loading and proper cargo securing. Parts VDI 2700 8 / 8.1 / 8.2 specifically relate to cargo securing on road vehicles and to the securing of passenger cars as well as light and heavy commercial vehicles on transporters. The latest revision of this directive entered into force in September 2024.
The directive describes the elements and their interrelationships in vehicle securing, especially the combination of:
- securing by means of lashings / tie-down straps
- the use of wheel chocks
- the use of perforated plates as lashing points
The new revision also includes requirements related to the dynamic strength test of the body structure of the complete vehicle.
Our supplied perforated plates are manufactured to meet the requirements of Directive VDI 2700 for use as lashing points. The certification of the body structure as a whole (i.e. the finished transporter / final product) is carried out by the manufacturer of the final product, who also issues the relevant certificate.
